I started this blog when I was attending regular pottery classes at my local college. Unfortunately after 5 years my class fell victim to the recession in May 2011 so I’m currently a potter without a studio or kiln access. Rather than shut this blog down, I’m intending to post on more varied crafty topics, like knitting and making jewellery from my remaining handmade c
eramic beads and pendants.
This is mostly a hobby blog but I have more ceramic pieces than I’ll ever make use of myself so there are also some items for sale on my stock page – email me at helen.the.potter AT gmail.com if you are interested in anything. At some point, I might actually set up a proper online shop but my day job is keeping me pretty busy at the moment!
Aside from being crafty, I love reading, cuddling my cat and walking in the countryside with my partner. I’m an environmental scientist by profession but I dream of doing a ceramics degree one day. Although I live in Scotland now I grew up just outside the potteries in Staffordshire and clay is in my bones!
