I started this blog when I was attending regular pottery classes at my local college. Unfortunately after 5 years my class fell victim to the recession in May 2011 so I’m currently a potter without a studio or kiln access. Rather than shut this blog down, I’m intending to post on more varied crafty topics, like knitting and making jewellery from my remaining handmade ceramic beads and pendants.

This is mostly a hobby blog but I have more ceramic pieces than I’ll ever make use of myself so there are also some items for sale on my stock page – email me at helen.the.potter AT gmail.com if you are interested in anything. At some point, I might actually set up a proper online shop but my day job is keeping me pretty busy at the moment!

Aside from being crafty, I love reading, cuddling my cat and walking in the countryside with my partner. I’m an environmental scientist by profession but I dream of doing a ceramics degree one day. Although I live in Scotland now I grew up just outside the potteries in Staffordshire and clay is in my bones!
